1) One of our hotels was literally next door to a strip club, another was next to a casino. The former was a 4 star, the latter, 5. Both had terrific breakfast spreads.
2) I played Scramble with Friends on a long bus ride, and an incomplete round of Spades. Meredith and Keelan forfeited due to a whooping, courtesy of David and myself.
3) I buzzed my hair before the first performance of Resin in efforts to minimize grooming after dancing under cascading salt. Technical difficulties occurred and my salt never dropped. Bad News: The lighted spheres used in Constellation ...
The capital of Moldova, Chisinau, was our first stop of the tour. We wandered around a huge farmer's market full of fresh produce, clothing, grains... and lots of fresh fish.

Las Taifas was the cozy traditional Modovan restaurant where I ended up eating three times in three days. Needless to say, I thought the food was awesome. They greet you at the door with a small glass of homemade wine and walnuts. There was live music too.

A very old, raked stage made for an interesting first performance.

Bucharest, Romania. The bustling, beautiful city where we celebrated Ricky's ...
So far:
Christmas markets. Gluhwein, bratwurst, potato pancakes, ROASTED CHESTNUTS. The cold is developing that wintery bite that turns your cheeks red and your lips purple.
Breathtaking drives underneath sweet, massive mountains, of the Alpine variety, and hundreds of thin waterfalls streaming down cliffs. When I say breathtaking, I very much mean it. I didn't take pictures, let us use our imaginations.
A puzzle, yet to be completed.
More Christmas markets (gluhwein, chestnuts, repeat).
And the people I'm with are dancing, on/off stages, on the bus, in our hotel rooms, at said Christmas markets. You can't ...
Touring this time around has been nice, and warmer than I expected. It’s been a good experience, but challenging. I’ve gotten to know myself better over the course of the last four weeks. Even with so many performances, the pieces have stayed fresh and never fully comfortable. There are six more shows left; and though it’s been long and at times exhausting, I think I’m going to miss it once it’s over.
I’ve included a few pictures from Saint-Louis, France, Lorrach, Germany, and from the tour bus.
Enjoy.

We have just passed the halfway mark of the tour, and in some ways it has been going rather quickly. We have already been to so many cities, on so many stages, and hopefully have touched even more lives through the work. It is hard to imagine life without this company, without these amazing people. As human beings, we get so caught up in the situational ties of life, stopping to vent or complain about what, in actuality, is the very reason we have the ability to decipher the great from the good. Then the smallest things, like a tour ...
Choreographer Monica Proenca talks about working with the young artists of LINES Ballet…
This fall, performer and choreographer Monica Proenca settled in with the students of the Training Program, as teacher, mentor, and guest choreographer. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Monica now calls Vancouver home, where she co-directs Lamondance with her unique passion and Brazilian flair. Monica is the most recent LINES Ballet Artist in Residence, a program made possible thanks to a generous grant from the BNP Paribas Foundation.
Of her experience creating a piece on the young artists of the Training Program, Monica says “This group of talented ...
Happy Thanksgiving from Monthey Switzerland!
We arrived yesterday in Monthey, a lovely city surrounded by mountains and situated in the French part of Switzerland. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I dropped my suitcase and took the train to Lausanne, another beautiful city located on the border of Lac Leman, where I lived 18 years ago (yes 18 years!!!!) while attending the Rudra Bejart art school. It was wonderful going back after all this time and seeing my old teachers!
Tonight after the show, our French tour coordinator organized a Thanksgiving dinner for the Company (video of the ...
So here we are, chillin' in Romania. Never in a million years did I ever think I would have the opportunity to see the world and perform this craft we have dedicated our lives to. This particular group of artists are some of the most genuine people I have ever met and I am so thankful to be apart of such a beautiful experience. Enjoy some of these photos from Bucharest!

We've arrived in Bucharest, or "Little Paris," as we've been told it's called. The city is bigger than I thought it would be, and definitely feels more urban than Chisinau. We are lucky to be staying in a really nice hotel, which includes an extravagant breakfast and a penthouse pool with steam room, jacuzzi, and sauna.... what it does not include is a no smoking rule, blegh! This morning I was asked to take part in a press conference with Arturo, which I thought would be one or two people asking us some questions and jotting down ...
November 11 - Travel Day to Chisinau, Moldova
As we head to Europe once again, thoughts of home keep coming back to me. Though LINES fall home season and the election are now behind us, I can't help but to think about how these two events transpired. After returning to the studio on the Wednesday after our run of Constellation, the magnitude of what we shared didn't hit me until we sat as a company and talked briefly about the performances. As I listened to the discussion, I got emotional. I remembered friends and supporters approaching me after the ...
