LINES Ballet at the Exploratorium

March 12, 2015, LINES Ballet was invited to take part in the Exploratorium’s Resonance program where we showcased the beginnings of our collaboration between Alonzo King, and pioneering natural soundscape artist Bernie Krause.

Krause, who has collected field recordings of more than 15,000 different species in their natural habitats, worked with composer Richard Blackford to create an original composition for the Alonzo King LINES Ballet. This event offered a sneak preview of this work-in-progress, and featured recorded selections from Krause and Blackford’s orchestral score, accompanied by choreographic vignettes performed by the LINES Ballet Company.

During a moderated discussion, King and Krause shared their creative vision for the piece and offer insights into their collaborative process.
