We are so honored that two of our beautiful LINES BFA alumni returned to help us celebrate our 10th anniversary by choreographing new works on our current classes. Allie Papazian, Class of 2010, worked with our sophomore class and Ivy Patterson, Class of 2015, created a new work on the freshman class. Hear more about their experience returning to their alma mater…
And see their new works premiere this weekend, Friday, April 21 at 8pm and Saturday, April 22nd at 3pm at Angelico Concert Hall on Dominican University of California’s campus!

Coming back to choreograph on the BFA after being in the inaugural class ten years ago has been such an incredible experience and honor. I am so completely in awe of how talented the dancers are and I’m happy to see that the program is supporting all of them to grow as individuals and artists.
Because I was a part of the LINES BFA program, I’ve experienced first hand many of the teachings they’re receiving. So I gave myself the task of trying to pass on information I’ve gotten in my professional career that was new and informative to me post-graduation. This process has been especially enjoyable to me because of that; I can relate to where they are and try to give them something new from that standpoint.
I’m happy and excited to see what we’ve all created from our time together on stage. The dancers have been an integral part of making the movement and I think the piece as a whole is very vibrant and interesting. It was really important to me that the process was as important as the final product and I feel as if we’ve all learned a lot from one another. I’m so grateful for the whole experience.

Working with the freshmen reminds me of the energy and growth that I discovered each day alongside my classmates in the studios at LINES and classrooms at Dominican. Returning has helped me further appreciate the ways that the BFA fosters the growth of a “whole artist.” Each dancer’s individuality is celebrated, their minds cultivated, their bodies transformed; fearlessly strong and committed. It’s exciting to see the maturity of these thirteen artists. The class of 2020 is dauntless, determined, and simply delightful to work with.
