When the Salesforce Tower opened in 2018, San Franciscans may have noticed ghostly figures dancing atop it every night amidst the clouds. That’s the work of renowned local artist and frequent LINES Ballet collaborator Jim Campbell. Entitled “Day for Night”, this massive 11,136-bulb piece spans the top nine floors of the 61-story building and projects the movement of our very own company dancers.
Campbell’s first ground-breaking collaboration with LINES Ballet was 2012’s Constellation, a ballet that explored the orientation of our bodies to light. His most recent work with LINES was 2019’s AZOTH , a collaboration that also included live musical performances by Charles Lloyd and Jason Moran.
