LINES BALLET RETURNS TO FRANCE FOR FOUR-WEEK TOUR

U.S. WINTER TOUR INCLUDES PERFORMANCES IN NORTHRIDGE, CA AND WEST PALM BEACH, FL

LINES Ballet is heading back to France, and we couldn’t be more excited to return for a four-week touring engagement, January 14 – February 12, 2026. International touring has been central to LINES since our founding in 1982. Returning to France is especially meaningful, given our long history of presenting work there and the dedicated French audiences who have consistently supported and engaged with our performances over the years.

This French tour features two works by Alonzo King that are deeply representative of our artistic values: Ode to Alice Coltrane and The Collective Agreement. Together, they reflect Alonzo’s distinctive choreographic approach and his ongoing exploration of humanity, music, and our relationship to the natural world.

Ode to Alice Coltrane is a tribute to the legendary jazz musician and spiritual leader, set to her luminous and searching compositions. Upon its premiere in September 2024, the San Francisco Chronicle hailed the work, saying, “[Ode to Alice Coltrane] is a spiritual consummation of sorts, the ballet draws on a broad spectrum of Coltrane’s music … The LINES dancers respond with power and grace, their arms in constant motion, beseeching, supplicating and reaching, yet rarely making contact with each other.”

In contrast, The Collective Agreement brings a charged physicality and formal precision to the stage. Created for San Francisco Ballet’s 2018 Unbound New Works Festival, the piece examines individuality within unity and the strength that emerges from shared intention. It reflects Alonzo’s belief in dance as both a philosophical inquiry and a communal act, brought to life by the extraordinary artistry of our dancers.

During our time in France, we’ll perform in Le Creusot, Reims, Ibos, Mérignac, Annemasse, Avignon, Saint-Étienne, Fréjus, Cannes, and Créteil. To learn more and to purchase tickets, visit our touring web page

After returning to the U.S., we’ll continue our winter tour with a performance at The Soraya in Northridge, CA, on February 21, then we’ll then travel to the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, FL, on March 11, presenting Ode to Alice Coltrane and Ma Mère l’Oye (Mother Goose), Alonzo’s 2024 work set to music by Maurice Ravel.

As always, we’re grateful to share our journey with LINES ballet fans and audiences at home and abroad. We look forward to connecting with you through the power of dance!
