Michael Montgomery in Slovenia

As our tour begins, I can’t help but to feel overwhelmed; I feel all human emotions at once.

I am so excited to embark on another journey, and look forward to all the magic and wonder that will introduce itself in these next seven weeks. Our first location was Ljubljana, Slovenia; it was amazingly beautiful! The town is small, but packed with a lot of character. The architecture is wonderful and the people are very intriguing. I spent our ten-hour plane ride trying to imagine what Slovenia would look like and laughing, full of excitement, with Chris. When I arrived, I realized immediately that my thoughts of what this area would look like were completely inaccurate. Though I did expect to be surrounded by beauty, which I am, I did not think that the weather would be as cold as it is already! Luckily I was warned by Laurel that a big heavy jacket is not only a life-saver, but a saving grace on this tour.

Slovenia

We had one performance out here and the following day we had off. The company decided to visit Lake Bled, the “must see” of Slovenia, on our day off. It was so divinely beguiling; I could not help but to walk around all day feeling like I was in a dream. There was a castle by the water and an island in the center of Lake Bled. There was a boat that escorted us to the island; it was such a peaceful row across the unimaginably picturesque water. The sun was beaming and reflecting on the water, leaving a thick screen of shimmer that seemed to stretch infinitely across the entire lake, leaving glitter and shine on the swans and geese that were wading in the water with us. It was magical; almost too pretty to be real. The island had a church on it and was full of serenity, which you could feel entering your heart and soul with each fathomless breath. It was on the island that I thought to myself, “I am one of the luckiest boys in the world.” I not only get to be caught up in the rapture of the luminous artists I have the opportunity to tour with, but am also kissed by the beauty of the many places that I will be seeing for the first time. Will someone pinch me please? 😉

I look forward to continuing this endeavor and await all the beauty that this world has to offer, with an open heart and open conscience. I can’t wait to see all of the locations we will be going to in these seven weeks; I just hope my camera will have enough space in it to capture everything!

Until next time, Michael J. Montgomery
